Dear all,

We are a  ice manufacturer and our process started for receiving water, go through filtration, uv light treatment then flow into the machine to process ice. Lately, local authorities insisted to carry out water sampling at last water treatment point which is UV LIght. Would you all will make a sampling point at UV light there just for this purpose? Fyi, UV light is our CCP, would it pose a cross-contamination risk for making a sampling point there and we felt insecure to make a sampling point there? Feel free to leave your comment here.

How did you verify the UV light would suffice its intent ?  You have done few  tests to make sure the UV light is sterilizing the water ? In any case , its a good sampling point  for verification . Also . if you make a sampling point , use a one way valve to prevent cross contamination .

Why not point of use (end of process)? Freezing doesn't kill coliforms (at least not E. coli) and would also prove ice machine is hygienically maintained.

Have your inspectors grab ice samples. Sure it takes time to thaw, but it would seem in my opinion a more representative sample of process.

I have had 2 ice companies as clients and each one tests the water after r/o and in frozen form - none at UV due to potential issues.
