Greetings all, I'm establishing a QMS & Food Safety System for my newly established freeze-drying business,

and have been searching for International Standards to comply with (for compliance & conformity purposes) on: - physical parameters - chemical parameters & - microbiological parameters. And unfortunately, I found none when It comes to Freeze-Dried Strawberries or even dried. The only standard I found was CXS 52-1981 (regarding Frozen Strawberries), which I am guessing that I would need to abide by (as freezing is essential part of the Industry). I am looking forward to be able to pursue International Markets; mainly EU. I'd appreciate any guidance on the topic :)

I think there are no such strict standards as the field is too broad (even for freeze dried strawberries). Keep an eye for general food safety guidelines - FDA on shelf-stable foods should be a good place to start. Then read some FAO documents on dried fruits/products. Visit researchgate or sciencedirect. Then follow GMP, HACCP prctices and make a good product. Offer it to international markets through your country's ministry of commerce programs. Then go to some international fairs (mostly virtual now). After finding first clients they will tell you more about their special needs that you will (or won't) follow.

Hi a7,

Other than for certain well-defined items such as zero tolerant pathogens, I fear that consistent International BCPA Standards rarely exist for  commercial Food products.

For examples can try this short thread -

and maybe googling,  eg -

Kind Regards,
