Hello to all wonderful people here. I am new here, so was wondering if you could help me out with a non conformance I am doing right now. 1)It was brought to my attention, that employees forget to return knives to the knife storage bin. And although I am always able to find all of them, it would be nice if knives would be in the bin by the end of the day. Already made a sign that says that this is a knife's storage drawer. But still not all knives make it back to the drawer. There are no certain individuals, so no warning was given yet.

2) Face masks- a lot of employees keep their masks right at the tip of the nose, which is against the rules. I have asked them to put it properly at least 4 times per day, and yet it still goes on and on. Every day for the past couple of weeks. Cant really give out warnings, since there is a shortage of people. 3)Repeated problems with employees forgetting to fill out raw material log. So basically i have to stand there myself and ask each person which takes something from the walk in cooler or walk in freezer to write it down.

Thanks guys for you help

The knives is pretty easy to fix----have the knives etched with numbers, and each employee is issued a numbered knife (or two) then when one is not returned, you know who the party is..............they will get the message

we have the same mask problem where I am,,,,,,issue is the supervisors aren't reinforcing it, so they won't listen to us (honestly gave up trying)    The only thing to do IS write them up-------------the company will also get the message when there aren't enough folks available to cover a shift

Have the supervisors take over the raw material usage (not your job anyway) and when you write them up, the problem will go away!

Unfortunately, when issues are pervasive, an you're looking to improve/change them, this is sometimes the only way---------just make sure you've got the full support of the company or you may find yourself unemployed

Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

Hi Philkin; With returning knives - I would try to torture workers with re-training (all of them with no exceptions) until they get exhausted and understand the requirement. As they say "Doesn't come through the head - will come through the rear end", pardon my French.

Solution for the issue # 3 is pretty much same.

Thanks Olenazh, the thing with training is that it is hard to get my boss to approve training times. If not, I would be doing it every day. LOL

Thanks Scampi even though supervisors are supposed to help me they don't. And even if I write them up, nothing will probably happen.

I will try those ideas, and we will see if they work.
