Hello,

I'm looking to start some external audits of sites as part of our supplier approval.

I'd like to go on an external audit course, any ideas of the best ones?

Something which would cover mostly BRC standards and meet UK retailer requirements for both food and packaging suppliers.

UK based - please.

Many thanks

You could take the BRC lead auditor training.  Its the same class that the BRC certified auditors take.  I took it a while ago, its good.

it looks like IFSQN has a supplier audit training coming up.   If its anything like the internal auditor course, it should be pretty good.   and its very inexpensive.

Thanks for the reply.

With BRC V9 coming out is it easy enough to convert up? Say if I did the auditor course to V8, is there a conversion course up to V9 and so on..

Many thanks

Yes they have upgrade classes.  The downside of that is the time and cost of doing the upgrade.   I took version 8, so I haven't had to upgrade.  Im not sure on your goals, but it may be worth to wait a while for version 9.

as I recall the main course is 5 days and the upgrade is 1 or 2 days.

Hi

depends on what you mean by external audits

If you are wanting to audit your suppliers the you could take the

Level 3 Award in Effective Audit & Inspection Skills

this is a regulated qualification and would count as trining for internal audits, Inspections and for auditing suppliers

If however you want to audit against a 3rd party standard the you would need lead Auditor

you would also need to complete any standard specific audits training

The Level 3 Award can be done in 1 day, maybe 2 with some providers

lead auditor is 5 days

regards
