Greetings Tran,

No items should be allowed in the factory, except for something that may be of an established great value -not  economic- to the owner (examples are wedding band or a spiritual "token").

The reason why items like these can be allowed is because you have to take into consideration food defense and food safety culture. You can't run a "dictatorship"-like system with only prohibitions and expect to always have happy/caring personnel and this I base on everyday practice and not standard theory.

Of course it goes without saying that all these will be under strict policies (eg training, good GMP like gloves in the case of wedding bands even if they are not really needed, early reporting of any loss of such an item etc).

I do have to say that this is my opinion and others may be more or less strict, but as a side note in Greece the wedding band is specifically mentioned as an exception in official Food Safety and GMP guides and is universally accepted by national or private food safety auditors.

Regards!

This matter has been discussed multiple times on this forum. Nothing personal is allowed on the production floor with the exception of medical bracelets or pendants.

This, a lot of times, is up to the individual company.

We allow plain wedding bands, but do not allow medical alert bracelets.

We do not allow fingernail polish, fake finger nails, false eyelashes, food, tobacco, recording devices, or cell phones (unless you are a supervisor/manager).  No food or drink is allowed in the production areas, and no tree nut/peanut items are allowed in the facility.  We are tree nut / peanut free.

We do routine locker inspections, and do not allow food, drinks, over the counter medications, or tobacco products to be stored in lockers.  We do allow prescribed medications.

We do not allow employees to wear outside shoes in production areas - we have a captive shoe program, where we issue shoes and those shoes must stay in the facility.

I could go on and on, but, like I said, it's up to the individual company.  Auditors do look at your GMP list, and specifically look for food, drink, and things such as fingernail polish and jewelry policies.
