Idea for a Certificate of Contribution for Members

This is all making my head spin.

Can some members please start saying which format they perfer (if any)?

I would like to get this off the ground in the next week or so.

Yes Simon, the ideas will never stops day by day it generates, i think Yesterday's, 09:15 PM idea is good, let's stick to this:

Associate – AIFSQN 10 posts
Member – MIFSQN 50 posts
Senior – SIFSQN 250 Posts
Principal - PIFSQN 500 posts
Fellow – FIFSQN 1000 posts

We seem to have a concensus about Associate, Member, ..., Senior, Fellow.

I think this consensus wont going to an end, or at least it will for a very long time. And to be frankly I think its already went too far with the main topic.

IMO, we should use the polling method to determine which format that should fit in. FSSM is making good move by merge all of our opinions together. I guess you can pick few formats that you think will suit for our needs, and let the poll decide which one is the best.

Dear All,

At the risk of my creating more head-spinning, Simon’s excel sheet wud appear to demonstrate that (overall) there is a substantial consensus of name satisfaction with all the ranks except one, column F. (I appreciate some proposals hv multiple changes to maintain a logical progresssion, I’m just looking at the overall appearance). I deduce F's existence is considered (majority) “useful”, but of difficult naming ??

I suggest that any name choice shud, at a minimum, be (a) having a readily understandable meaning, (b) reasonably, understandably, consistent with respect to it’s preceding/succeeding rankings, © look usable on a certificate ( )

Counsellor seems good for me and also I found it quite "useful" I vote for it.

The poll was a good idea. I still feel peer suits better with respect to the contribution made by the members who devote some time to share their knowledge, experience and information to help others.

I voted for Principal, which in my mind is more senior than senior but less senior than fellow.

I also voted for principal as it sounds good 'principal member of IFSQN' my next option would be counselor, others are difficult to understand / pronounce all over the world unless have to refer dictionary.

Peer has a nice connotation of knowlegeable and willing to share information for me.

I will just run the poll until the end of this week and then make the new gradings and changes; then next week I can set soemthing up whereby members can start requesting their CoC's.

Anyway, maybe we will have to take into context all the ranks whenever we need to say how important is our certificate.

I think in the UK principal would be the best choice and that's why it's my choice. Obviosuly with this being a very international forum we will not please everyone no matter the choice. So I agree with you totally FSSM.

Maybe we can put the ranks on the CoC itself???

I really do not get that Lanser.

Not many answered the poll but it was conclusive - based on the results I will now set up the new grades of membership based on the following.

Associate – AIFSQN 10 posts
Member – MIFSQN 50 posts
Senior – SIFSQN 250 Posts
Principal - PIFSQN 500 posts
Fellow – FIFSQN 1000 posts

I will then find a way of running a script to move members to their correct grade as of now. Then in future members will be automatically pomoted as they reach the required number of posts.

Once I have set up the grades I will set up a new thread or perhaps better a specific forum that explains the grading system and allows for members to post new threads to ask for their CoC's. We can also congratulate on there also. That would be nice.

Appreciate your effort

For a while we’ve been considering giving some sort of formal recognition to members for their time and valued contributions they make to the forum. There is an automatic promotion system in place on the forums that works like this.

New Member 1 post
Associate – AIFSQN 10 posts
Member – MIFSQN 50 posts
Senior – SIFSQN 500 posts
Fellow – FIFSQN 1000 posts

We thought when a member reaches a grade they could request to be reviewed formally by the forums panel to decide if they should be awarded the Certificate of Contribution for that grade. It is something to aim for and is a recognition of achievement, perhaps it could even add value to a resume or CV.

It's only a rough idea at the moment and the question first before discussing exactly how it could work is to determine the interest in such a system.

We set the new member grades up like this:

Inactive Member - Never made a post
Active Member - 1-9 posts

Associate – AIFSQN 10 posts
Member – MIFSQN 50 posts
Senior – SIFSQN 250 Posts
Principal - PIFSQN 500 posts
Fellow – FIFSQN 1000 posts

We give out a Certificate of Contribution to members who qualify and request one - you can read all about it here.
