All of the observations are spot on, but in a more "meta" level I have seen the intense scrutiny on the entire supply chain (Field/Farm-to-Fork) and control a major thorn in the side of food safety: Supplier Risk Assessment and Control. This has been a major area of exposure for every stakeholder in the supply chain.

A good lagging indicator is FDA "catching up" with this concern with it's Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP).

Hi All,

I think all previous comments have summed up what I was going to write:

1. Traceability will be scrutinised more thoroughly by the auditor and BRC procedures

2. Supplier approval process will be tightened

3. Maybe further requirements on zoning (i.e. low risk, high care, high risk)

4. Additional requirements on shelf life verification and validation

5. Staff training will be elaborated to include competency assessments of work force (just look at the number of withdrawals/recalls through incorrect labelling of products).

Cheers

Simon

Not a want or desire, but I expect a mandatory unannounced element (to keep in step with SQF).

Are you in a position to confirm or deny?

Simon,

Please advise how to conduct unannounced audit in facilities without regular operation due to seasonal raw material?

You give 'open dates' to your certification body when you will be operational and they can come on any of those dates.

Regards,

Tony

See qatfs comment #31 on this page: http://www.ifsqn.com...ou-think/page-3

This is the last draft for Issue 7 that BRC posted.

I concur with Qatfs, I downloaded the "BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 Draft 4 version 1" document off of the BRC site May-19-2014.
