Food Manufacturing, an e-journal is starting a "This Week in Food History" weekly feature.  I think this will be cool, so I'm going to post the link to the week's article each week.

This week, corn flakes, Jell-O, and other items.

These are great! Thank you so much for sharing  :spoton:

“Will this be on the test?" "Yeah, about the test. The test will measure whether you are an informed, engaged, and productive citizen of the world, and it will take place in schools and bars and hospitals and dorm rooms and in places of worship. You will be tested on first dates, in job interviews, while watching football, and while scrolling through your Twitter feed. The test will judge your ability to think about things other than celebrity marriages, whether you’ll be easily persuaded by empty political rhetoric, and whether you’ll be able to place your life and your community in a broader context. The test will last your entire life, and it will be comprised of the millions of decisions, that when taken together, make your life yours. And everything — EVERYTHING — will be on it.”

This week, we learn about a mega-merger, go back to the '50s to hear about a cheezy patent, and found out that the Angus was on Agnes, and it was very cool!

I could just eat a big bag of salt and vinegar crisps (chips) washed down with an ice cold pepsi.

Unfortunately not these days...

Thanks for sharing Martha, I am reading them.

I missed this week's email in my inbox, or maybe it got lost in cyberspace.

No matter, I searched for it and found that...

We go from Ice cream to Nuts, via Pizza and Cracker Jack.

Enjoy.

For this week, we see a thwarted attempt to sell some trade secrets, the birth of an American standard place to eat, and when we started thinking about something being "better than sliced bread."

This week we ponder a fluffy sweet treat, a puffy buttery treat, the vehicle for selling a meaty treat, and the liquid to wash them all down.

Enjoy.

For this week, we think of the cheese that caused a political uproar, the start of uniformity in cheese, some beef to go with that cheese, and trans fat being removed by (where else) California.

Bon appetite!

Now we will consider the origins of food named for a beloved grandchild, a candy that is out of this world, and a food from the New World that was the subject of an oft-quoted line from a fantasy tale from Middle Earth.

This week, we see the start of two trademarks:  one that became a comic legend and the other that was for a candy that brought a breath of fresh air.  But we need to recall the other news, which was due to some tainted beef.
