Hi

 

May be someone can help me on that: oral hygiene.

 

Do you have any rules about bad teeth?

 

Can you put a person with bad teeth in high risk area?

Hi,

Do a risk assessment.  What is the risk? How can you control the risks? Do they have open, oozy wounds that could be an issue?

Can they wear a face mask (is it a standard company policy?)? Staff training and other GMPs can mitigate some of the risk i.e. no touching face, don't cough or sneeze over product, equipment design to limit  the amount of "exposed" product.....

Interesting issue.

But the question could be: If a person don´t have oral hygiene (bad teeth is a consequence), have she/he the sensibility for hygiene at all?

IMO it´s irrelevant if the person has bad teeth. The person should be aware of the consequences of hygiene in food safety perspective (in loco - production area)

Working in the high risk area, which obviously means all the food handlers should be wearing proper PPE’s which includes a mask. IMO, as long as mask is on; there shouldn’t be a problem. :shades:

Thanks guys for your replies.

We do not put masks, but disposable balaclavas. Sometimes find operators pulling them away from them mouths.

May be to breath properly,and by risk assessment done find operators find uncomfortable to wear masks too.

ANY other thoughts please.
