Hello everybody,

We are working towards BRC for agents and brokers and are starting most documents from scratch. We had a consultant come in a few months ago for an initial consultation who gave us a couple of templates for job descriptions and a staff handbook. Are these things that we have to have? I know that these are good things for the company to have, but is it necessary for the BRC audit?

Thanks in advance everyone :)

Hi Bea,

Not my area but clause 1.2.1 of the standard appears to require certain job descriptions.

I note that "job description" appears in the glossary.

Kind Regards,

Hi Charles,

Thank you for your response! I have made up job descriptions because it does mention them in the manual and I thought it would be better to be on the safe side :) I am now wondering if I should do the same with the staff handbook since it is a much bigger task and we are rapidly running out of time.

Thanks again!

Hi Bea,

I can give you a little insight in terms of documentation requirements as we have been certified for 2 years now.  This will obviously depend on what product and how many products you are dealing with.

But our documentation looks like the below, although I don't think you would need everything to pass. Of course the easiest way is to go through the standard and see how you meet each clause and can you prove it!

Hi Bea,

I'm doing the same at the moment, I'm preparing to go through the BRC agents & brokers certification, all from scratch. I believe that you achieved it by now, could you give me any advise or consultancy company that you used?

thank you

Paula

Hi Paula,

I can't help on a consultant (we did ours in house, but have the benefit of also having a manufacturing operation that's been BRC for the last 10 years) but if there are specific areas you want advice on then I'm happy to share our experience/views on it - we've been certified since the A&B standard was published in 2015, and did the new Issue 2 this year.
