Hi all,

Any recommendations on where I can participate in sanitation training? In my previous places of employment, the sanitation programs were existing and there was a sanitation department. However, in my new position, I am designing from the ground up and am responsible for QA and sanitation. I know that NSF and Ecolab offer training - but was wondering if there were any others? Or reactions and takeaways from NSF or Ecolab training?

Thanks for any input!

My employees have taken an online course on Food Safety and Sanitation through Penn State University Food Science.  I know they also offer some hands on training at their State College, PA campus.

Good luck!

I have attended this training and it is excellent - one of the better trainings I have been to and involves hands on activities where you actually get to clean. Great class!

AIB also offers sanitation training. They have a food safety/sanitation professionals course that is a 3 week long residence course. I took it when I first got into food safety/sanitation and found it beneficial.

How do you get your employees to take an online course? Do they do it at home or ...? And what if employees are not computer savvy like the old folks?

Sorry for the delayed response, Clover.

Only my quality team which includes the Food Safety and Sanitation Specialist takes the online course currently

and they are computer savvy.  The FS&SS and QC are then training the production and sanitation crew.  Plus, we outsource our sanitation to a contractor which the FS&SS oversees.

What's also nice about the course, is it's user friendly format.  AND, you can download documents attached to it which we utilized for creating training material.

Again I apologize for the delayed response.

You can find the online course at the PSU Food Science website.

You can also located the hands on class through their workshop section.

I just took the training in the US (New Orleans). It is a great course!!  Very hands on with lots of activities. So much better then having someone talk to you!  They do training around the world in various places. For sure Amsterdam and China.
