Writing a new metal detection procedure - samples needed for reference

Greetings all,

im going to as a matter of need re-write the quality procedure for metal detection, the aim of this document is to train supervisors and QA/ QC's about metal detection, fail safes etc.

Accompanying this document will be an operating procedure used by skilled operators and or QC to program / change programs etc.

I was wondering if anyone has a good quality procedure for metal detection that is compliant to V7 as it is that i can use as a frame of reference, i would like this to include the normal Scope, and information parts.

Once complete i will post the completed article here for others to use.

Hi David,

Offhand I suggest you consult Tesco's Standard / MD Program. This is surely  compliant to BRC6 which is probably 90% the same as BRC7 ( although perhaps lacking the responses to the PITA, risk-based items). From memory I found it very comprehensive and readable.

Both documents appear on this forum (possibly linked in one of yr threads) ?

Onr particular difficulty from a scope POV is the number of factors potentially involved in the choice of safety  "limits" (as some of yr previous threads demonstrated). USFDA's classic document on MD spells this all out better than anybody but ultimately frustrates in that it fails to provide solid numbers (IMO, IIRC) to work with.

The UK I think avoid some of the USA conundrums by invoking the "Best Practice" card which may cover a multitude of prevarications.

Thanks Charles very useful information, the Tesco COP has essentially what i have seen in most businesses regardless of working with Tesco or not.

In other posts including my own, i noticed that an approach i thought of validation of the CCP is on the right path however whats interesting to me is that where some people state "get manufacturer to confirm capabilities sensitivities etc" my validation which is similar to Mgourleys test piece validation document http://www.ifsqn.com...try/#entry88160 8th post down, when i did it for our products i found that they were wrong! we can in fact detect a whole 1.0mm smaller 100% time for ferrous and NFE and stainless is the only one that was ok at 3.00mm

Any case i got what i need and shall write up a procedure today if i have time, that or tomorrow morning. however it will not need all the fail-safe that are available on market because we only use a stop belt system due to process constraints.
