Hello All,

I would like to get your view on what a supply chain food safety auditor job consists of and what does working as an independent contractor mean in this instance.

I will look forward to your input.

Thank You

Hi RTP,

Sounds like the jobs my boss and I do. We prepare questionnaires based on BRC and send them out to current and prospective suppliers. We ask for certification (GFSI, Organic, Halal, Kosher etc.), Food Safety Policy, HACCP plan, GMO & Allergen statements, Ethical Policy, product specs, authenticity, pesticide & heavy metal analyses et al.

Having reviewed all that information, we decide whether they can be approved straight off, need further information, need an audit before approval or don't come close enough. If they need an audit, we will visit and audit to BRC standards. Final decision is made then.

Those that pass are re-audited every 3-4 years based on risk (as always).

We have 150 suppliers and are constantly adding new ones and removing those that no longer come up to scratch, so it's done in-house. Smaller, less complex organisations may want to outsource.

Hello Brummy Jim,

Thank you very much for your input. I have a better idea now. I have a prescreen phone call tomorrow and hoping to get as much information as possible with regard to the role. I do not have the job description as yet therefore this search.

Your job sounds pretty interesting and fun.

It is fun. More varied than many technical/quality jobs. Good luck tomorrow.

Thank you. I see you are from UK. I miss the pasties, curry sauce and chips.

Not allowed (for me). Elevated cholesterol levels. I still sneak the odd pasty, but I do live on the Devon/Cornwall border; it's almost a legal requirement!
