Dear all, is there somebody who can help me with information about BRC agents & brokers?

Here is the situation - We are distributor and purchasing raw material form BRC agent. According to BRC cause 3.5.1.3 if we purchase raw material from BRC agents & brokers there is no need to ask info about last manufacturer or packer -  in other words  - we trust this agent  has performed supplier evaluation, quality of product is corresponding and there is no need to prove product tracebility. But what about fallowing documentation - flow chart (sheme for production, packing of product) and packing material declaration ( which proves that used packing material is suitable for contact with food).

I want to understnad is it appropriate to ask this info to BRC agents?

Hello Barbara,

I think what you mean is "BRC  certified agent and broker". No need to trace the manufacturer since a BRC certified agent and broken has done their traceability of their supply chain. You do suppliers audit or send questionnaire to them.

Hi Barbara,

It is quite reasonable to expect a BRC Agents & Brokers certified company to have performed the necessary due diligence on the manufacturer, so you don't need to do this. However, you will probably want to hold copies of the manufacturer's certificates, HACCP chart etc. so you KNOW that the due diligence has been performed. We are A&B certified and we expect our customers to request this information from us. Likewise, when I am approving a manufacturer and their agent/broker cannot supply this information, the alarm bells ring loud.
