Hi I am new to the BRC world. I need help understanding it and how to implement it. I want to Know how to wright an policy and procedure for BRC. I am from South Africa and it doesnt seem that I can find any help locally. Can anyone maybe guide me with this process. Maybe if anybody have some examples of policies and procedures or templates that you wil be willing to share with me I will appreciate it so much.

Hi Jani,

I assume you are familiar with topics like HACCP and ISO9000.

I suggest the first thing to do is -

(1) Obtain a copy of  the BRC7 Standard (free download) and study it..

(2) Download a copy of the BRC7 Self-Assessment Guide (free from Website / available on this Forum)

(3) Use (2) to carry out a Gap Analysis

(4) Use (3) to post here which Policies and Procedures are of Interest.

There are several detailed threads on this Forum discussing how to write Policies/Procedures. And hundreds of Examples. Opinions on writing vary with Author/Objective and there is no fixed format. Maybe search the Forum a little.

Kind Regards,

Hi Jani,

There's also a BRC Interpretation guide which has a lot of useful information.

Hi Thank you so Much. I work for about 6 large Packhouse in different regions. And we do mainly Table Grapes, Patatoes and some greenpeppers and cucumbers. I do al their Global Gap's but we have to implement BRC. I have gone through the standards list and see a lot that I don't have a clue about. I really need some guidance with this.

Regards

Jani

Hi Jani,

Can you clarify what you need guidance for ?.

As per previous post official BRC guidelines do exist, at a price.

Some other FS Standards offer free guidance, I hv attached an older (2010) Packing House FS Guidance document from sqf as an example. Of course SQF opinions/interpretations will not necessarily match those of but may assist some of yr thought processes.

Attached File  sqf guidance packing house (2010).pdf   882.47KB   37 downloads

Also, IIRC, for a Packinghouse scenario Primus offer a Guidance document giving specific clausal Guidelines for their FS Standard. See this link / attachment agri1.
