I am tasked with getting ready for our first ever AIB audit, I am reviewing the standards and was just curious about whether or not I can just use them with slight alterations as our GMP / Prerequisites book.  We would only change the language to make sure it correlates to our company and also of course add the documents it asks for.  Is this a good strategy?

Thanks in advance,

-Dave

Hi PackstarUSA,

Certainly copying the standard you will be audited against directly into your manual/book/SOP's is a common audit preparation/implementation strategy, and one that consultants often encourage for simplified audits (makes it easier to tick boxes).

If you like the language and it works for you then go for it. As your program gets more mature I'd encourage you to try and reduce the number of documents you have and instead write ones that work best for your company and help you accomplish the requirements of the audit, rather than parroting them.

After all, the audit is only one day a year, you have to use your GMP/prerequisites book the rest of the year. It's helpful if it makes sense to your business rather than collecting dust waiting for the auditor.

Awesome thanks for the confirmation.  We are up against CFR21 and the AIB standards mirrior a lot of the requirements.  I am planning on literally using the standards booklet with some changes here and there in language and per haps some additonal info where needed.

Thanks for your input.
