Hello everyone,

I have been following this forum for a while and had found some very useful moments for our company.

My question is: our Haccp plan (hazelnut processing plant) includes both CCP and OPRP's (we have around 14 OPRP's which seems a lot). I have arranged it following latest audit report, and now I am stuck whether it is a right thing to do or is it better to divide and create a new OPRP plan?

Is there anyone from the hazelnut industry who has similar production?

Thanks!

Hello Jamilla,

Do you mean to create another OPRP in addition to the former one? Maybe you can it make your OPRP more simple by integrating different areas into one only document? It is difficult to say since we don't know which are exactly your OPRPs.

Have you tested the new OPRPs? I mean, is there any problem on implementating that amount of OPRPs in your industry? That is to say OPRPs must to be useful for you, it's not that importat its length but if it fits perfectly in your industry and are easily followed by all the members of your organisation.

Hi Jamila,

Need some more info so as to offer relevant comments, eg -

(1) for iso22000 ?

(2) What is process ?

(3) How many CCPs and what are they ?

(4) what are the OPRPs ?

(5) what is method for differentiating CCP / OPRP ?

And Yes 14 is a lot. I daresay the auditor thought so also ??

Kind Regards,

Jamila212,

What is stated on the audit report? And at what clause it is raised? IF it is easier for the team to manage in "one plan" and show that it is working then I think it is fine. You must make the system work for you and not the other way around.

On side note: all these 14 oPRPs are from the line? Or do these include "positive" releasing?

Hi Charles,

Thank you for your response. Yes it is for Iso22000 and I am kind of a novice in that, so trying to response as thoroughly as possible.

The process is production of raw hazelnut kernels, and we have identified 3 CCP's which includes incoming raw materials, drying and metal-detection, that all have a critical limit

Our OPRP's include storage of raw materials and finished product, sorting, packaging, transportation and etc. The process itself is quite easy and we got all the control measures in place, I was just not sure if it is right to combine CCP's and OPRP's in one table with all the relevant data?

Hi Jamila,

Would need to see yr haccp plan/hazard analysis/risk assessment to give a reasoned answer but, offhand, i would suggest you have -

One CCP (metal detection) + maybe a CCP for "drying" depending on what you actually mean by the term. Incoming material these days is usually a PRP.

I cannot see any OPRPs in what you mention above but this may relate to yr own specific methodology.

PS - if you would like to see one (oldish) example -

Hi Jamilla,

We have sunflower oil refinery and similar to you we have a few CCPs and some OPRPs. We used to have two different plans for CCPs and OPRPs control but to me this seemed very clumsy and unnecessary. So I decided to combine the two plans and now my HACCP plan contains both CCPs and OPRPs. Didn't have any remarks or whatsoever on the following ISO 22000 audit so I think the auditor accepted it.

I don't think it really matters whether you control your identified hazards in one, two or ten documents as long as you have it documented.
