I have been asked to prepare the Suppliear approval program, we have suppliers that we been dealing with like for many years, we get the certificate of analysis from them for each LOT coming into our facility.

The procedure to approval is long i.e. one has to get the potential suppliers to  complete the Questionnaire and then they will be approved and an agreement will be signed between the buyer and seller.

Should ask our current suppliers to complete the questionnaire or just make them to sign the agreement would be sufficient.

Another question is how to approve the supplier of Fruits like strawberries as they come directly from Farm, our supplier can't give us any certificate of analysis.

I would see if your suppliers could go ahead complete your questionnnaire - it would serve as a good update of contact information, current practices, etc.

I'm not well versed in produce suppliers, but sounds like you may have to go through the approval process in some modified way so you have the documentation and also do an on-site audit of the farm and their harvest/storage practices.

For the farm fresh.........are they CanadaGap certified????  They have been certified as a GFSI and work to satisfy that requirement...........if not, you could ask questions based on the CanadaGap modeules, like, is manure used in the fields, how far to a washroom (that's to ensure employees don't pee in the fields) those sorts of things  There are alot of CanadaGap certified farms, so you may very well luck out.  Its a farm based HACCP plan.....oh and also ask if they irrigate, and if so, do they sample that water

Ask your current suppliers to complete the questionnaire, then at your annual review you can simply email the completed one back, ask if there are any changes and your done
