Hello Canadian folks,

Anyone who's already using the new CFIA inspection legend with the Maple leaf + licence number on their retail products?

So, my question is - when you are following the new labeling regulation, i guess it just make sense to use the new inspection legend right? Instead of using the old one and then the rest of your label is compliant with the new regulation.

I just want to see some hands on these as I haven't seen any retail products with the new inspection legend in retail, or maybe im just not looking to hard?

Thanks!

Majoy

This is why you're not seeing it yet

"Please note that until January 14, 2022, the inspection legend set out in Schedule III of the repealed Meat Inspection Regulations, 1990 may continue to be used, as a transitional measure, in lieu of the above [374(3)(a), SFCR]. As of January 15, 2022, the new inspection legends illustrated above must be used, as applicable. It is the responsibility of the regulated party to accurately reproduce the inspection legends set out in Schedule 2 of the SFCR."

No one is going to pay for new art work before they have too. I would expect on the date you will see the massive switch

If you're having new label/package printed, may as well do it all at once...............................lots of companies won't switch on the new labelling format yet for the same reason...............the dates still aways away

Yeah, its still too far, but we have new product in the pipeline and customer opted to follow the new labeling regulation therefore, it just makes sense to use the new inspection legend.

I just have to clarify with my inspector if what number to use, the establishment number or the licence number...

When Figure 1 of Schedule 2 is used, the number identifying the licence holder's establishment must replace the numbers 00 that appear beneath the maple leaf [183, Figure 1 of Schedule 2, SFCR].

The above excerpt from regulation is confusing to me, as it says licence holder's establishment and there's no news yet if the establishment numbers will be retained for good as it is an identification associated with the plant with foreign trade partners, unless they come up with an agreement esp with US.
