Hello!
We are a small produce processing company (primarily potatoes) and I am currently working on our Product Release Program.
(we peel, cut, slice, dice produce and ship to customers raw for further processing)
The guidance document states:
All products released for distribution must have records maintained. These records should record the product name and identification, confirmation of product checks, and the product disposition (e.g., release, quarantine, hold).
We have separate records for quarantine/hold items....but for product that is acceptable for shipping to customers, we do not have any records except for the bill of lading (which gets checked prior to loading) and shipping log that contains:
- the carrier name/number
- product trace code
- carrier inspection
- destination of shipment
- product description
- quantity
- quality check/condition of finished product/labelling etc.
My question is what documentation is required for this section, would my bill of lading and shipping log count as documentation to put towards a Release Record? I did some research prior and some people use a Release Product Checklist... not sure what that will entail in terms of depth.
Any advice is much appreciated!
Thank you.
Jenna
