What does everyone use for maintenance uniforms?

I was just wondering what everybody has their maintenance personnel wear?  I have them wearing blue smock type shirts.  no pockets on the top.  They do have the bottom pockets.  I can only find them with buttons and not snaps.  Can you tell me what your maintenance personnel are wearing and where you get them?

I have the maintenance wearing a uniform supplied by Cintas. No pockets on top and the buttons are the ones that click (the non loose ones). and bottoms with pockets. I have them wear navy blue. Saniation is a different color. Most imp is them being GMP and dark in color because they get dirty throughout the day.

This might largerly depend on the size of your organization, type of products you have (enclosed, low risk, high risk), and level of maintenance your team performs. You can go through one of the major uniform providers, as they should have the snap front shirts.

We actually launder our own shirts.  I am just having trouble finding ones with snaps instead of buttons.  Right now they have buttons and I have to order new ones so I was hoping to find snaps.  We also use blue for maintenance.

Try looking up Cintas, they have those and they launder and replenish them for you weekly.

Can your maintenance crew wear "polo" style shirts? There's at least a couple companies out there that make those with snaps rather than buttons.

They change them too often to use the polo type.

We are going to continue laundering our own.  We had very bad luck with a laundering service.  Our smocks were coming back smelling worse than when we sent them.  There was always unexplained stains on them when they were returned.  We have been laundering our own for about a year now and it seems to be working out well.  That is one reason I try not to order from laundering companies.  If I do they will not leave me alone about their services.  

We are seeing a trend with our clients and new clients with most going to polo pull over shirts, no buttons, no snaps, no pockets.

 I understand and I have totally been there. What's up with the unexplained stains? I get the whole blue ink thing where people leave their ink pens in their pants, but I've seen and smelled some really gross stuff coming back supposedly clean. I did some ATP swabbing before of supposedly clean items, and the results were interesting.

However, for maintenance, I would have suggested the laundering service mostly because maintenance guys work hard in some really dirty environments. 

From a safety perspective, not sure if you could do this, but maybe find disposable lab coats/aprons with the snaps. I'd be curious to see a sample of what your crew currently uses. Do you have a link to a site where the smock/shirts are bought?

I actually got some samples of disposable coats and they were horrible.  We do have disposable aprons that we use for certain things. Those are horrible also.  On our production lines we wear white coats (more like shirts) and those are very hard to keep clean.  They get stained from rubbing on the stainless machinery, ink stains.  They are just very hard to keep looking good.  

Why not get blue smocks that have the snaps?

When they are in the clean room/production room, we have our maintenance staff wear the same thing productions wears (frocks which are provided and laundered by a company much like Cintas, but smaller, local, and cheaper). When they are back in the shop (which is entirely removed from production and storage) they wear standard construction wear, since they are often doing metal fabrication/welding, and it can get dirty back there. 

We tried disposable, but they were too hot and frankly uncomfortable.
