Hello all,

Can anyone share their experiences of implementing the M&S Select Produce Code of Practice?

Which produce items are "in scope" and which are "out of scope"?  Can anyone share examples of each?

Are ambient produce items out of scope/in scope?  Are dried fruits out of scope/in scope?  Can anyone share examples of each?

Has anyone come across any complexities with respect certain produce items?  For example, some fruits are sourced from many growers and obtaining Global Gap/Red Tractor, Sedex, supply chain and pesticide information about each grower represents quite a burden.

TIA

Those who have survived the process are too traumatised to talk about it ;)

I've never implemented it directly, but have been on the receiving end of lots of questions from M&S suppliers about it for ingredients that we produce.

The biggest challenge we've had with many of the M&S produce requirements is that there is not always an understanding of the real scale of the supply chain - bespoke agronomy, pesticide etc requirements are manageable for fresh produce where there is a direct linear relationship between a small number of growers and the final product/retailer, but when you're being asked for the Sedex, GlobalGAP, PPU etc details for each grower where the product uses ingredients from in some cases >1000 growers it becomes rather impractical...
