ISPM 15

In compliance with The United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) publication #15, member countries including the EU, Australia, Canada and South Africa are implementing BANS on 'Coniferous Wood Packaging' and in certain cases, 'Non-coniferous Hardwood Packaging', meaning shipping pallets (skids), crates, and wood dunnage/packing used to secure ocean cargo loads. The name of this regulation, which will have a drastic effect on all Shippers and their projects, is ISPM 15 (the 'International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures Publication No. 15: Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade'.

There's a bunch of information on the following web page:
WOOD-PACKING COMPLIANCE UPDATE - ISPM-15

I know Australia was an early adopter of the requirements and now other countries are coming on board - is anyone / will anyone be affected by ISPM-15?

Regards,
Simon
