Time Temperature Indicators (TTI’s)

I believe I may have been living in a vacuum. I'm sure most of you know all about Time Temperature Indicators (TTI's) but today is the first I've heard of them. TTI's or 'tell the truth' tape as some people call them record a food's 'time-temperature history' and turn a different colour when the food is spoiled. I believe TTI's have their roots in medicine for monitoring the storage temperature of vaccines.

Anyway I found a nice FAQ that explains a bit about TTI labels their applications and costs.

Time Temperature Indicators (TTI's) - Frequently Asked Questions

I wondered are any of you using the nifty little devices on your products if so for what application? Also are you seeing them on the products you buy in supermarkets, if so on what and from where?

I've not seen them myself (too busy looking at the prices I guess) but wouldn't it be fabulous if a frozen fish could tell you 'I'm too hot!' - I'm sure it won't be long.

Regards,
Simon
