Forcing to BRC, IFS, etc certificates

Dear All,

must the companies have certificate according to those technical standarts ,especially BRC, IFS, etc . is there any legal forcing for those standardts. There is very big trading approcah with those standarts?can customer apply pressure for that , although you proof to operate undert the all leagal rgirements and codexes of the countries ?

There is no legal requirement for BRC or IFS Certification it is a customer requirement, but often it is to help your customer fufill their legal obligation for due diligence (UK Food Safety Act 1990) and also to save them the cost of auditing all of their supply base. If your customer demands you have BRC/IFS as prerequisite to supply then you have a decision to make on cost v's benefit of Certification.
