Is there a Formula for Determining Number of Baits in an Area?
Thanks,
Simon
Maybe it varies depending on location and product type?
I think it also depends on what you are "baiting". Insect pherimone traps typically have a range indicated on them along with some recommentations.
Rodent baits/traps are usually per need based on your pest control results with a general rule of a trap on either side of all exterior entrances. I have also seen a statement in AIB consolidated standards (section 4.11.2.1) that states exterior devices should be at intervals of 30-50 ft or 15-30 m but it is followed up with a more may be needed statement.
All other standards I have seen (BRC, SQF, PAS 220) state there must be adequate control and devices must be mapped.
Thank you TS your comments are very helpful.I think it also depends on what you are "baiting". Insect pherimone traps typically have a range indicated on them along with some recommentations.

I'd also focus controls on the exterior of the building for rodents and then use proofing and non toxic internal baits for rodents, e.g. the radar type. In one of our rooms approx 3 football pitches, we probably have 4 bait points and 3-4 EFKs. This might be overkill but I was fortunate and had the budget.
We have an absolute load of toxic bait points around our site (which is very large) as it has a water source nearby so rodents are an issue. We've even increased the number recently due to finding activity.
I suppose the thing you need to do is base it on risk and on findings. Like where we had an issue with rats outside, we increased some bait points, put in more temporarily and gassed a burrow we found. I think it's important to be able to show you react to trends.
I understand reviewing and acting based on findings, it was the starting point I was after to see if there were any industry standards. I've never seen any.Sadly the only way I've found is to talk to the contractor. I say "sadly" because naturally they are aiming to sell you things.

Thanks GMO.
What is EFK ? Electrocuting For (I shudder to think) ?
I've never seen any industry standards either. Strange when you consider it is one of the "big 8" (from memory).
