Hi all,

I am looking for information regarding animal welfare.
Trainings are too expensive and I am not aible to find any self study materials (like books, websites, etc.) on the internet. Does any one here, has some information in his/her computer regarding this subject?

It is for an audit I will conduct at a poultry slaughtery.
I have worked in poultry slaughteries, but this was more then 10 years ago, so I do not have much experience with animal welfare regulations.

Thanks on forehand.

Good Afternoon Madam A. D-tor

Try the Soil association standards. They may be a bit specialised, but it may give you an idea. Unfortunately i only know about Cows!

ACP/Red Tractor is a good standard which mirrors/is mirrored by, the Tesco cop(which I can upload or email if anyone is interested.
Another good resource is the RSPCA http://www.rspca.org...imals/standards
Dear Caz, YM and Lanser,

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I followed your links and find some worthfull resources.

However this information is not quitte what I am looking for. I am looking for practical welfare standards in poultry slaughtery. Specially regarding travel time, waiting time, amount (or kg) living birds in a container, speed of the stunning belt, gass concentrations for gass stunning (how to check this visually on correctness: is it good or wrong if birds flap their wings?), handling of birds by staff of slaughterhouse, etc.

Maybe my question is too specific.
Dear Madam A.D-tor,

Highly sensitive issue.

One official site with some guidance links is -

Rgds / Charles.C

added - a typical process is illustrated here (perhaps not recommended to viewers of sensitive nature)
