Dear Hygienic,

I would take a photos of the worm and send it to the company with a letter or e-mail. You should take different photos not only one photo of the worm...but where in the product was the worm etc. The QA department of the company can take actions if they have more details like batchnumber, where did you bought the product etc.

Anne

PS what kind of product was it?

Dear Mike:

IMO , any kind of insects or creeping animals can be found if there is a failure in cleaning and sanitizing stage for recycled or reused cans , the worm can be suspended or hided inside the can, direct below the cans' hole in the internal part .

Ahhh extra protein in your drink!
Hygienic, cans are recycled by melting them down to convert the aluminum back into cans, so I don´t think the worm could´ve come from there. It´s also strange, because I remember the classic science experiment in 4th grade where you put a tooth inside some cola and it starts to dissolve. I would think that the acid in the cola would´ve dissolved the worm.
Or was it a glass bottle? Even so, these get washed with a high pressure mixture of some kind of soap and water, and there´s a detector that rejects bottles that have something inside. The detector works with some kind of light beam, but if the worm was small enought it might not have been detected.
Be sure to file a complaint; the producer will thank you, I am sure. There´s usually a contact number or e-mail address on the can. They´ll ask you for the lot number, so that they can trace the product.
