Dream Job

Hi all,

I'm sure many of you have dreams and wishes about how does the perfect future job should be.
My personal wish is to be Hygiene Manager. (Some extra titles would be nice, as General Senior Hygiene Manager to make it sound more or less closer to Her Majesty....)

It would include travelling, participating in different seminars and other events that would lead me to constant professional development. I would suffer sitting at one place between 4 walls for many years.

Working hours should be flexible so I have a good time in afternoon to pick up my kids and make a nice dinner without stressing.

There should be wonderful well trained staff that always listen to what I have to say and do things as I say...

Foot massage available at least 2 times a week
Free card to Tivoli
Free entrance to pubs, nightclubs+ free beer every second weekend

What else?.....
Yes, forgot to write, that my dream place should not be some perfect shining factory.. I love making changes and challenges. Would love to make some shitty place to something super clean using as less resources as possible in an ecological way and make everyone say WOW! Good job done!

p.s. we all know that no one gives a dream job just after studies, but it's nice to have some light in the end of a tunnel!

A part time job in the food industry. Right now, any part time job would do. They just don't seem to exist (unless it's shift working or the pay is lower than nursery fees!)

I've had many jobs and they all taught me something different.

At 13 I got my first dream job as a paper boy delivering the really heavy Sunday papers with all of the supplements. The bag was so heavy it used to pull me of my bicycle. Anyway I stuck at it and then landed my second dream job on the local market fruit and veg stall. I worked Tuesday and Thursday before and after school (6 – 8.30 a.m. and 3.45 – 6 p.m.) and all day Saturday 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.. For the 12 hours on a Saturday I got £5 plus my breakfast and chippy lunch paid for. Lugging 50lb sacks of potatoes around all day certainly made you hungry.

I didn’t get any qualifications at school as I was a bit of a joker and I suppose immature. When I left school I got a job in a commercial vehicle motor factors relining brakes shoes and other horrible jobs, I then moved up to van driver until I had a bit of a eureka moment. At 23 I decided to pack work in and go back to college and then university. That’s where I studied computers and business. Whilst studying I had many jobs such as chef, car valeter, delivery driver, office worker, koi carp pond installer and then I finally got into quality management.

I never knew what I wanted to be, it certainly wasn’t what I am now, whatever that is. How could it be. When asked by the careers advisor at school I said I wanted to be a welder.

I’m glad I worked before going on to study and for what it’s worth my advice is that whatever you want to be or do for a living is completely down to you; work hard, be honest, be adaptable, look to learn, embrace change, in fact lead change, be creative and never step on anyone to get ahead. You might not land your dream job, but I’m sure with a bit of luck it will lead down a meandering path to a place where your work satisfies and rewards you. By the way I’m not there yet.
