Does ISO 22000 require an organizational chart and job description?

A common but tricky question. With no doubt, it is not a clearly specified mandatory requirement of ISO 22000 to have documented organization chart and job descriptions but it is a good practice to document them. Documented organization chart and job descriptions not only standardize your channels for responsibilities, authorities and communications but also serve as satisfactory evidences against requirements of 5.4 (Responsibility and Authority) and as supportive evidence against requirement of 6.2.2 (e).

I would agree, there is no mandatory requirement but it is a good practice to show responsibilities and authorities.

Several other standards (I know BRC and AIB) require them.

Just to add as well as being useful for internal training and development, customers usually like to see an organizational structure along with defined roles and responsibilities. In my opinion it's best to have them, but you don't necessarily need to go mad.
