Dear Friends

Do anyone help me to get a survey/study REPORT of leakage of different types of products in the market. In case of any customer complaint, this study report may help the organization to state that leakage of product can occur in the market due to different reasons. Also the report will help us to inject some control measure in the both production unit and in the market. Informations about different products and different packing materials will be intersting...

Jomy,

Being working with beverage Manufacturer and as user of Combibloc machines - we follow lot of testing of packaging before filling the product and after filling the product as per Combibloc Technical Specifications. So, we ensure that any product pack which is having any deficit in package integrity is not released into the market. When we receive customer complaints related to leaking or bulging - we find most of it related to bad handling during transportation & storage. If the product is handled well in a proper manner, definitely there will not be any leaking complaints. So, finally as per my view regular training is necessary to create the awareness among warehouse people, logistics peoples & Sales man (internal as well the distributor side) to understand the importance of handling to minimize the loss and damages.

Dear Anish

You are absolutely right. But nano holes may not be able to identify with our visual sense. If its liquid product, the leakage of product may be very gradual and most of the time it may not leaked out too. I am looking for some statistical support from any members, regarding different types/classifications/ criterias of leakage anlaysis...As you said, most of the leakages are due to wrong handling of products. Here are few reasons
1. Poor quality of packing material
2. Prsence of dust in packaging material manufacturing unit.
3. Electrical fluctuations
4. Poor maintenance of packing machine
5. Untrianed packing staff
6. Poor loading and unloading practices.
7. Wrong storage conditions.
8. Wrong stacking system.
9. Wrong bursting strength analysis/ poor bursting strength
10. Purposeful leakage creations by sales person/distributor for bulk replacements.

please share more points and if possible provide us saome statistical informations about each criterias..In which points the leakage percentage are comparatively high...

Jomy,
Another important addition in your point is Stacking Pressure. Nowadays the packing materials are getting thinner by thinner. But we face lot of problems during stacking (almost same height is followed ) - the bottom layer used to collapse & deformed. We've faced this problem with combi sx material. So, its a need for the quality team to decide about the stacking height after doing some trials. Most of the companies- try to addup the material with the same pallet to reduce the logistic cost. And although companies dont want to do this, customers request this for saving - but ultimately this leads to lot of customer complaints . And as a quality person, we waste our time and break our head to understand the root cause of the problem.
