Glass & Brittle Plastics - Fire Extinguishers

Hello all, just seeing if someone can clear something up for me. Would the side gauge on a fire extinguisher be considered a brittle plastic? From the research I have done the side gauge is made from polycarbonate and has a high impact rating. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sid

I would include all gauge faces and poly plastics in your audit. It may be high impact but it is in your plant and it is a risk.
Yes, if it is involved in production or packing area it need to be considered and include in the policy/procedure and register.
Hi Sid,

The previous posters are correct. You will need to include these.

The focus of your foreign body control system is not necessarily limited to 'brittle plastics'. Some of the larger retailers define the hazard as 'Glass & Clear Hard Plastic'. For this reason all glass and hard clear plastic in production and storage areas must be listed on a register and audited for integrity at a frequency appropriate to the risk.
