Hello Everyone,

I have a small question regarding water quality. we are monitoring water quality once in a year. We do not use water in our product. Now in case of water sample taken is out of specification. What can be the corrective actions for that?

Regards
Dave

How is it out of spec? A micro issue?
1 Thank
Currently i do not have such case. I am creating a corrective action document. I need help for that.

If in case of micro what would you suggest? I am bit confused as we test it once in a year. If it comes positive for micro than product from last whole year will be in question rite?

Dave
My suggestion for Corrective Action would be to increase the frequency of testing on a temporary basis or until you receive 3 consecutive "good" results.

What is your source of water? (city, well, etc.)

Our company uses city water and our water monitoring includes the following:
  • we have the city send us their water testing report on a quarterly basis
  • Monthly water samples sent to a 3rd party lab for Coliform testing
  • Annual water samples sent to the State Hygiene Lab
  • Quality - Free & Total Chlorine Testing done internally on a daily basis
Not saying all of that is required by any means but we cover all basis (and do not use water as an ingredient either). Our corrective action is to increase testing frequency when issues arise as well as to contact City Water Department about any "out of spec" results we find.

Now in the case of water is out of spec in terms of micro. I was thinking to take sample from the main supply valve which is located outside the facility. By that i will come to know that the source of microbes is not withing the facility. If that water is positive than i would go ahead and speak with city water department. Please correct me if i am wrong.
