HAZOP (Process Hazard Analysis)

Hello,

I need to make a presentation for my new study 'occupational health and safety' about procesinstallations and HAZOP to the rest of the group. Can someone help me out with some HAZOP examples from the industry.

What I understand it's simlair to the HACCP analysis only not food wise but concerning the installation.
Who can help me out?

Dear Anne,

a small explanation by Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia....erability_study

It describes it well as we used Hazop frequently in the Petro-Chem industry.
It is not similar to HACCP as that is a safety system as Hazop is a analysis method.

Haven’t checked the details but I think HAZOP has also been used in a food microbiological context although the HACCP technique subsequently became more generally popular. For example see the reference below.

Abstract
This paper describes the application of a structured, rule-based technique for the identification and control of microbiological hazards in food processes. The technique, which draws on the Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) concept originally developed in the chemical industry, uses a multidisciplinary study team drawn from within the producer company and a creative, interactive approach toward identification of existing and potential hazards. It encourages a structured consideration of potential process deviations, thereby allowing manufacturers to implement preventive control measures. At the end of the analysis the study team should have identified all currently conceivable hazards and the causes leading to them, and put forward a number of priorities for control based on a clear understanding of risk.
