Smelly Food Containers - What are the Contamination Hazards?

Hi There
I'm a new member and this is my first them to post a topic.
Can anyone tell me what the risk is to food stored in an ambient warehouse if a non food delivery is accepted in that was transported in a smelly container?
The container had a powerful malodour and smelled almost like carcass meat and after subsequent infestigation it transpired that the container had been steam cleaned etc. The delivery was still refused but i have now been asked to expain in detail what specfically the risk was with reference to legislation/guidelines/standards.
At the moment all i can find are references to malodours. Does anyone know the specifc risk?

Unknown contamination hazard...but you certainly do not want to bring it into your hygienic factory / warehouse. Not worth the risk.
If you bring it in your warehouse it may well taint other foods even if they might be microbiologically safe they will be an issue from a qualitative perspective.

Here here! Standards are not always measurable and GMP comes into play here. Your organoleptic senses are telling yo something is not right, strong odours of any type may well cause product taints and depending on the other foodstuffs stored maybe the type of product that uptake a taint easily. Legislation, Standards etc should not have to be quoted, but I am sure there would be someting in the hygiene regs on this!
Thanks Guys. I really appreciate your advice. Was starting to feel the pressure from the economic fall out of my decision.
