What's a 'shell product'?
As most who work with SQF know, it's originally a product of Australia. Occasionally some of the language in the code is geared toward a slightly different usage than what might be written by a North American. One example I'm having trouble understanding is the term "shell product."
In the SQF Guidance document, pre-requisite Section 6.6 (under "What do I need to do?") it's written:
"The Maintenence Manager must ensure they are notified by all contractors engaged to complete work in any shell product handling area."
Can anyone clue me in to what a "shell product handling area" is? Are we talking about nuts, eggs, Shell oil?
Thanks in advance!
Are you looking at SQF1000 or SQF2000? Sorry I don't have an answer but 'shell product handling area' to me would also indicate seafood?
This is from the SQF 2000 Guidance Document (Page 82).
Hello Esquef, as the SQF standard is generic and applicable to all food products then it doesn’t seem right that it would be specific on shell products. And why do contractors need to inform maintenance manager on just this issue. Very strange...In the SQF Guidance document, pre-requisite Section 6.6 (under "What do I need to do?") it's written:
"The Maintenence Manager must ensure they are notified by all contractors engaged to complete work in any shell product handling area."

Can anyone crack this hard nut?
Regards,
Simon
Greetings and salutations to all my fellow SQF friends.

Yes I think I've cracked it
As there is an egg guidance document this is almost certainly a "typo" /cross over between the two guidance documents. It should just read "product handling area"

Tony
