Audit Software solution for an iPad

I have been looking at the practicality of using an iPad to record data during an audit and so far haven't found my ideal solution. The audit form would have to be easily configured by the user and have a reporting function. So far I have only seen specific software where the software company has to convert the the audit form for use on the iPad or is subscription based where you pay for each audit report which is hosted and managed on the software companies site. Has anyone had any experience of this or has identified a simple software solution?

Hi,

I am running a small Canada baesdsoftware developing company and we specialize in development of applications for Quality control in Food Industry.

You can give me more details of the report you want to access from the iPad, and we could make an efficient and inexpensive application designed just for you, or your company.

Best regards,
What's wrong with good old pen and paper Ken? To be honest I find it difficult sticking to an audit checklist and usually skip about making all sorts of notes. I think I would be constrained by a PDA checklist, either that or I'd become a more efficient and effective auditor.

Simon

You've missed the point -All of the audits I am required to do have an audit checklist or some description. BRC auditors have their audit checklist for each section of the standard and each one must be completed. I don't necessarily complete each item on the checklist in the order in which it is written but all sections have to be completed.

I may also have audit guidance and other background information which is usually left in the office. For the industries I work in, there would not be an issue taking an iPad round with me although I do go into some sites where these would be not be appropriate for safety reasons.

I do go round with pen and paper and then transfer my notes into my laptop - my logic is that if I can enter some of the information as and when I am doing the audit, I may be able to complete an audit more efficiently.

Is it really better than Safari + Bugzilla?

*Edit: Thanks Steve Jobs- you will be missed.
There is surely an app for that, or needs to be! There would be a few purchasers in the industry and in auditing who would love to purchase a specific BRC audit app - perhaps suggest it to BRC?

Perhaps off topic but I was looking on my iPhone for food safety apps. I have a travel photo app and I would love it if you could get a "food safety horror photos" app in a similar vein where a new photo comes on every day of say, a really bad complaint or a photo example of shocking GMP. It would be an excellent training and coaching tool.

I have had some answers but they don't meet the specification as originally posted. Looks like I may have answered my own question - searching for apps isn't easy on the iTunes site but I did come across this one which appears to tick all the boxes (at least my requirements - i don't need to be able to summarise reports or track corrective actions for which there are excellent programs already out there )

My possible solution is called FormConnect and looks the most promising yet with good reviews on the app store. You can easily add photo's to the report which something I do on some of the specialised audits I complete.

See http://www.formconnections.com/ & http://www.formconne.../category/blog/

Wouldn't mind building a BRC Gap analysis or internal audit tool around this - as long as I can send to the client as a pdf, I don't suppose it matters to them what program the original data is collected on.

Now I have a business reason to go out and buy an iPad and give this a try!
Hello. I wonder if you did find a suitable app as I would like to purchase one too?

I am using my iPad for conducting internal audits. There is an app available called iAuditor - it is free to download.
It took some time to do it, but I have created templates for all the audits I need to conduct as per BRC requirement.
The nice thing is you can take photos during the audit that is included in your audit report.

Indeed it is great application. Again, it is free! You can develop your own audit templates, attach photos and send the report to as many recipients as you want.

Ken, check this app and let us know it it worked for you.

Thanks :)

Ostap - I used iAuditor recently and it is excellent. I've developed my own templates and ability to attach photo's works really well.
