Gather data and chart it. The chart will only tell you if you have reason to investigate (e.g. the trend is going up, down or staying the same). It's a matter of investigation, not statistics.

The examples here: http://www.safeproduce.eu/Trending.htm are for micro test results, but the general principles are the same for trending any data. You are paying for a lab to test samples and you can get is a lot of valuable info from trending if you choose the right trend method.
