Gather data and chart it. The chart will only tell you if you have reason to investigate (e.g. the trend is going up, down or staying the same). The examples here: http://www.safeproduce.eu/Trending.htm are for micro test results, but the general principles are the same for trending any data. You are paying for a lab to test samples and you can get is a lot of valuable info from trending if you choose the right trend method.
