Hi can any one advise on the frequency internal quality control should be carried out i.e. spiked samples to assess recovery. We are a UKAS accredited lab.

I suggest you check the latest 17025 audit report. If your auditor was worth his salt (and your money!) there will be a comment on the previous actvities or suggestion for a corrective action!

What's your monthly sample throughput? I'd suggest taking this figure into account when devising a programme.
Sorry about late reply. At present we are only receiving around 20 -30 samples a week these are for mainly Salmonella. But we are accredited for E.coli, Coliforms, S.aureus etc. The IQC procedure that was audited says carry out weekly but it is not cost effective as we are not receiving samples for the full testing ( no samples mean no matrices to test).
I was thinking changing it to monthly would this be acceptable until we get busy?.
