I presume you mean Cheaper?

I've used the clean trace protein testing kit for allergen testing. We only had one on site so worked fine for us. Not sure about picking out individual allergens.
You'd want to validate the new procedure for the site so might not work out cheaper in the short term.

Definitely cheaper we have a multi allergen multi line site and as part of the SSOP validation we test lines and specific allergens monthly and at £8 a test was wondering if I had any other options.
Hi John,
have you tried the AgraStrip allergen kits that are offered by Romer Labs? They have the complete range of allergens with LODs of 2-5 ppm. There is a Romer Labs site in the UK, so it might be a convenient contact for you. Don't know about their pricing, but it might be worth an inquiry I guess.
Hope that was helpful?
Cheers from Germany,
Tobias

Charm Sciences do an Allergen swab, it does not detect individual allergens, but picks up very low levels of ATP, way beyond that of 3m etc. They also have the general surface and water swabs.
To control food allergens identified by your risk assessment, the use of allergen specific tests is the most widely recognised approach. These types of tests have both the specificity and sensitivity you need to demonstrate the risk is being controlled - when validated. ATP and protein based tests are better used for hygiene control rather than allergen - a different perspective on cleaning. Romer Labs are based in Runcorn and would be able to advise on these aspects of testing. Hope this helps?
Dear All,
Just as a side-comment, in a recent parallel thread to this one, I gave the link to an (apparently) credible website on allergenic aspects which simply stated that in many practical cases, a properly micro.validated cleaning system should be an acceptable routine procedure in view of the inevitable financial aspects etc.
i don't know BRC/etcs current official viewpoint but i just wonder if many people are over-elaborating on this issue. Possibly the high tech. solution could simply be used to (infrequently) validate the "low" tech. route.
