Control of Glass Log

Our on-site laboratory is based within the factory. All of the equipment with the laboratory is on our risk assessed glass register and is audited accordingly.

However, we have some glass consumables (curvettes) , which i keep in my office, and issue out to production, as and when needed, and they return to me for disposal in a sharp's box.

I currently have a log where i document the date, time issued, issued to, number issued and number returned , condition , with relevant signatures. But i have a feeling that i may be missing something. I have done a (separate from my pre-requisite) risk assessment which is loosely based on the risk assessment i have for temporary engineering works, (what are the hazards, who could be harmed etc).

i'd welcome any comments from others who are in a similar position as to how their plant manages such consumables in a production area.

Sounds like a solid checkout log. Only thing I think might be missing is where do you document the investigation/check if one goes missing or gets broken on the production floor?
Maybe you should consider doing away with glass control log if you can switch from glass to non brittle plastics?
