Delivery of next revision of the standard will most likely be delayed - by how much I don't know.
The BRC/IoP packaging standard has only recently been benchmarked against GFSI requirements. There is a feeling that having just been benchmarked and then changing/revising the document is not a good idea as the revised standard would to go through the benchmarking process again. To put it through twice in close sucession is not viable. Ask again in tweleve months.

I can confirm that Issue 5 of the Packaging Standard will be delayed by at least one year, partly because of GFSI benchmarking and allowing some maturity to develop with current users of GFSI/BRC, but also the Standard is working well in its current form with no immediate need for revision.

1 Thank
This is good news and will be well received by quality managers who deal with BRC/IOP. Version 4 was a big change and is very comprehensive and a big improvement on V3. Any changes would be tinkering. For another year at least Quality Manager's can spend time adding value to their businesses developing, fine tuning and improving their systems. Starting with a saving of £90.

Just to clarify the responses so I understand them - V4 was issued Feb 2011 so adding a year would take it to 2015 not 2014? Is that correct?
That is correct. The next version of the BRC / IOP standard won't be published until early 2015 and won't become the official version until July / Aug 2015.
2 Thanks
This is comforting for us who have just started on BRC/IOP Issue 4.
I had goosebumps when i read the original post.
