Water Microbiological Specification for Food Processing
Started by JorgeCompres, Apr 17 2013 01:34 PM
Hi!
I work for a food proccesing industry and we need the microbiological parameters of the source of water (in our case: river) to validate that we are not using a contaminated water.
Anyways we have a water treatment plant but we still need the specifications
Thank you in advance!

Depending on the regulations in your area, treated water should meet all the standards for potable water. Your test should Mirror the test done by the local municipality. Samples should be verified through accredited labs and tested for Microorganisms, Disinfectants, Byproducts, Coliforms, E.Coli, Inorganic & Organic Chemicals ......to name a few.
Here is a link to the EPA's National Drinking Water Regulations in the US - Hope it can help you out a bit.

Dear JorgeCompres,
There are many drinking water standards.
3 popular ones are WHO, EC, US EPA. current issues (AFAIK) attached below –
EC drinking water standard 1998 - l_33019981205en00320054.pdf 293.56KB 98 downloads

US EPA drinking water standard 2012 - dwstandards2012.pdf 358.61KB 114 downloads

As per previous post, it is highly likely that yr location will use an abbreviated selection for official legislatory purposes.
