How do I prove paint is not hazardous?

I am in an SQF Audit and the auditor is asking me to prove that any paint I use inside the plant is not "Hazardous". I have info on paint and MSDS but its not clear. What am I looking for? What does hazardous mean?

It probably needs to be approved as Food Grade, eg something like this -

In the case of lubricants, various gradings are involved depending on, for example, whether the location is likely to be rarely / frequently in contact with food, eg H1 lubricant. The requirements are detailed in US regulations, eg see -

For paint, I did a quick google but could not see any similar hits. However the requirements are surely out there somewhere. Anyone ?

PS (added) - Probably obvious but after reading the first of last pair of links added above, it is clearly important to study any particular (paint) requirements in the detailed SQF text also. The auditor should surely direct you appropriately if relevant to his comments.
PPS - (added later again) having looked at ver7, the paint text where present mostly seems unchanged from ver.6, eg -

9.2.10.5 Paint used in a product handling or contact zone shall be suitable for use and in good condition and shall not be used on any product contact surface.

So if your product is included within relevant modules, you appear to have location-defined options: food-grade and Nil respectively.

This topic is a few years old; however, just wondering how you were able to prove your paint is not hazardous?

 

Similarly, i'd like to prove that the paint we use to on some of our corrugate packaging equipment is suitable, as it's applied at the equipment manufacturer's site and is not on any food-contact surface.
