R&D/Product Development: Nutritional Facts Inquiry

Basically want a program/software where ingredients and their corresponding nutrition can be entered. Then, the nutritional facts per serving for a product/recipe will be calculated.

There are online nutritional values calculators, but our main concern is to have our data private.

Some softwares I've been researching are:

Nutribase Professional - http://www.nutribase.com/highend.html

Genesis R&D - http://www.nutrition..._ca/Genesis.htm

Anyone familiar with these programs? Or have any suggestions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Bill

UPDATE/EDIT (12:47 PT 5/24/13): Downloaded Genesis R&D Demo and this software looks like it will do nutrition analysis. Just e-mailed them in regards to recipe and ingredient privacy with their database.

While in college I used Genesis R&D and thought it was easy to use. You can use their database ingredients (sugar, salt, oil, etc.) or you can enter the nutritional facts from your suppliers. I believe if you get the software you save all of the info on your own network. There are updates that update their database and calculations.

Our company uses Nutracoster. I, personally, have not used it, but I'm sure it's on the same wavelength.

Hello Lacey,

Thank you for your feedback. Hearing something from anyone on this forum will give me a better idea and understanding.

Would you say your R&D department is good at what they do? And out of curiosity  what type of foods do your company specialize in? I'm going to look into Nutracoster, nonetheless.

Regards,

Bill

dishtheinfo.com is an excellent software package for what you want and it is very reasonable to buy.

Hi Bill

Most recent one I've used is Nutricalc

Worked fine but software seemed a bit dated (although that wouldn't put me off using it again).

Tony

Hey Tony,

Will look into Nutricalc more in depth. Please don't mind if I may have any question about it.

Our company produces frozen pizza crusts, topped pizzas, and RTE sandwiches (breakfast & lunch). I know you can export the formula info from Nutracoster, and I believe you can from Genesis as well.

Do any of these  work on fermented products?  We take fermented products and cut and brine them.  We have been told that we have to send them in every time, because the computer programs don't calculate the nutritional right for fermented products.

Good morning experts. I have a query.

Do you base your nutrifacts on your current crop? Or you consider an average of the last few years (ex: 2-3 year).

Our products are banana chips, and the Nutri information and proximate analysis results may change depending on the season.

Is there any guidance or reference document?

Where are you selling these products?

The EU has tolerance on nutritional variation - there needs to be an allowance for the fact that things that grow will naturally vary!

See https://ec.europa.eu...ces_1212_en.pdf

I'm less familiar with the US position, but this also seems to include tolerances for various categories of nutrients: https://www.fda.gov/...rition-labeling
