Website Outage May 24

The website is back up and running, but many apologies for today's outage.

From the web host:

There was a circuit breaker failure and burning smell from one of the in-rack power distribution units for a rack that serves our Cloud VPS platform in our Dallas facility. Although each of our power distribution units contain two independent banks served by their own circuit breakers, the burning smell emitting from the unit prompted safety and fire hazard concerns requiring us to immediately replace the unit. This task is currently in progress and we expect it completed shortly. Further updates will follow once the unit has been replaced and service restored, thank you for your continued patience.

We moved from shared hosting to a VSP (virtual private server) a couple of week's back to cope with the increased number of visitors and to give improved uptime, stability and speed.  Since then we've had quite a lot of outages (too many).  Most have been caused by database and file issues, which should now be resolved, however this outage was caused by the server itself.

Let's hope the bad run of luck is over.

Have a nice weekend.

Regards,

Simon
