Dear All,

I have made a weekly Audit format and not sure if I need to add windows, doors and tubelights just only in the production area or for the whole site.

It is three storey factory with 2 floors production and 3rd floor with laboratory facility and staff facility, when i tried to list all the windows, doors and tubelights list has gone so high which seems not practical to me. Please advise on appropriate decision to be taken. Thanking you.

Regards

Karthik

You need to do it for everything that could impact on production, so storage areas will need to be included.

If your lab staff can go into production without changing PPE / shoes then it will also need to be added. If the windows for the staff offices overlook production, these need to be included.

You need to risk assess the glass audits, some may need to be daily ( if directly over open prduct etc) or weekly. Some can be monthly (OHL's, emergency break glasses in doors etc).

Thank you Caz... that helps.

Just to piggy back on this topic, we have a lunchroom located in the same building as Production however prior to entering Production all employees must go through a foot-bath which cleans off shoes to remove any debris. Would it be pertinent to audit every piece of glass in the lunchroom (which are all employee owned and can be removed at any time without our knowledge) as well as having a glass/brittle plastic policy in place in case breakage occurs in the lunchroom?

Any advice on another way we could go about satisfying clause 4.9.3.2/4.9.3.3?

Do they wear any protective clothing in this room?

If yes, then yes you do (and unfortunately this includes footwear - regardless of footbath, unless you can justify otherwise)

Hey Caz,

Thanks for the quick response!

Ya, there is protective clothing required in Production and I was suspecting we would need to list and audit everything in the lunchrooms.

Thanks!
