Odour absorbing pads for packs of chilled prawns

Does any one have any good information, experience or opinions on odour absorbing pads or sealing film? I have been tasked with finding out whether they may be of use for packs of chilled prawns.

I was unclear as to whether the pad was to remove any extraneous odours from the packaging or the shrimp. Ominous ?
