BRC Audit with SAI Global
Has anyone here had a BRC audit conducted by SAI Global?
We just had a gap analysis done not too long ago and ended up with 19 NCRs. Looking at a possible audit date, early 2014.
Anyone here in Canada done BRC? The auditor from our gap analysis was not so fond of how the CFIA does hazard analysis pertaining to the HACCP program.
Thanks

Unfortunately the choice of auditing company is done by corporate, beyond our control. I am only a QA Tech, I just work here haha.
I booked audits with SAI Global just last week. They seem professional and just. I have a supplier which we work closely to and they have been audited by SAI Global for some years now and seems happy.
I am glad to have funding for a pre-audit, in that way I should be able to come out on top even if they find a long list of NCs.
Good luck
One of the challenges in assessing the value of a CB or a scheme is to get over the initial impact of the findings, the NC's in particular. In the long run, most people would tend to prefer a CB or scheme that identifes risks that are in existance, thereby elevating the company. Choosing a CB or scheme simply to get the highest score, because it is less demanding or because there are fewer findings during the audit, can feel better in the short term, especially in cases where we are measured by audit scores, but in the long term are likley the poorer choice.
I do agree with Charles' other thread, that we can often lay a lot of blame on auditors, but by and large, my perspective is that they do a very good job in a very tough and demanding occupation.
I quoted with SAI Global last year for our SQF certification. I found them good to work with but they were poor in their customer service aspect as they never got back to me on a date. But I think they are a solid CB and they have been in the business for a very long time. As well, they offer some very good training programs and conference opportunities.
The fact that your auditor "was not so fond of how the CFIA does hazard analysis pertaining to the HACCP program" matters not -- if your business is in Canada [or you ship to Canada] the CFIA way is your only option! :spoton:
We used SAI Global for our inital audit and recieved 2 minors after much hard work. We have rescheduled with them again this year for our recertification. As auditors they were very through. Their training programs are great as well. We took some from a local university and the training sessions conducted by SAI global were far superior.
I've used NSF-GFTC for the BRC audit at all 3 of my facilties last year. I am currently in the process of re-certificatoin 1 down 2 more to go. The standard is very clear and CB's are rated on the BRC directory page.
