How to prevent loose items from entering food processing areas?

Can anyone help with PRPs ?
One of the PRP's for HACCP Implementation is LOOSE ITEM. Since the company PRP's is not (all) yet in place i would like to ask for any ideas/informations/opinions on how to control LOOSE ITEM upon entering processing area. Considering personnel/employees, office supplies use, wear and tear machinery parts and any loose items that can be potentially consider as foreign object contaminant into the product.
I have generated a policy and procedure, but its not yet furnish.
So I'm asking for a help or any suggestion that would make my policy a better policy for HACCP Certification.
What is the best approach ?

I hv never, ever, encountered a PRP for "Loose Item". :smile:
A little more background detail might be useful, eg -
product type, status,eg RTE etc / process ?
Any particular FS standard involved ?
Offhand yr query typically overlaps various other PRPs, eg Personnel hygiene, maintenance, etc although a generalised policy for "significant" foreign bodies could be formulated.

Can I ask any control measure for loose item/foreign matter contaminants?

Going back to the original question if you mean by "loose items" personal belongings such as mobile phones, keys, money and the myriad of other things people like to carry with them then I have a simple solution.
Provide small personal effects lockers and place them in a convenient, secure and visible place such as on route to canteen.
I found only by providing such things can you control personal effects effectively.

For control of other 'loose items' such as staples and paper-clips etc. this should be part of your GMP procedures and they should be banned completely.
Engineering bits and bobs, springs, washers, tape, nuts, bolts, grease etc. should be controlled by maintenance procedures to firstly minimise on machine and equipment design, regularly checked and also you should have a safe/hygienic hand-over procedure following any maintenance activities.
Just a few ideas.

We don't allow ANY personal belongings in production, Everyone has a locker for them to store their belongings.
And if I caught anyone with a mobile in production, after I came down off the ceiling, i'd sack them!

can contact lenses and eyeglasses be part on the scope of Loose Item?
what other scope should i include for Loose Item aside from those you've mention. cause in my draft policy i also include the office supplies item such as calculator, knife, pen and myriad supplies used. and record it on the registry form to account the item used inside processing area?

Your calculator should be on your glass register (along with plastic rulers), you shouldn't allow items such as paper clips and staples in a production area. and items such as knives, scissors and pens should be issued daily.

so my the scope would be only those items that personnel would like to bring as what you mentioned such as mobile phones.
what else should i include in the scope for LOOSE ITEM?
if sa enginnering machinery parts, this could not be include somehow because the engineering has a porocedure on how to ensure that those parts cannot be contaminate into the product.
